Mumbai University (MU) Admission 2025: Courses, Fees, & Dates!

If you are aspiring to pursue your higher education at the 168-year-old Mumbai University, you must gear up for the upcoming admission of 2025. The university will open its admission portal tentatively by May, right on their official website. However, before applying, you must explore and learn about the various courses offered by them, the respective fees, the admission process, and the important dates for the admission. The University of Mumbai or Mumbai University (MU) was established in 1857 and is one of the oldest state universities in India. Not only is it accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC but also secured the rank of 61 in NIRF 2024. There are about 781 affiliated colleges under Mumbai University and 56 departments across various disciplines. 200+ courses are offered by this university, including various distance learning programs. The duration of the courses offered by the University of Mumbai ranges between 1-5 years. Admission to these courses is offered based on merit and entrance examinations such as CUET, CMAT, JEE Main, NEET, etc.  Merit-based scholarships are also available. 

Courses Offered by Mumbai University in 2025 & Their Fees 

The courses offered by Mumbai University are varied, from B.A, B.Sc., M.A., and M.Sc. to B.Com, B.Tech, BBA, MBA, B.M.M, MMS, LL.B, and more. It’s considered one of the premier institutions for courses in the fields of Business and Management Studies, Engineering, and Health Sciences. 

*Note: Apart from the aforementioned approximate tuition fees for the courses offered by Mumbai University, you also need to pay an admission fee and registration fee. The overall fee varies depending on the specific course and program you select. If you want hostel accommodation within the Mumbai University campuses, you will have to pay the respective hostel fee for that! 

Mumbai University Admission Process & Important Dates 

Like previous years, admission to Mumbai University in 2025 would remain merit or entrance-based. 

• Admission to BBA/BCA/BMS/BBM courses will be based on the CET conducted by the Maharashtra Government.  

• Admission to B.Tech, B.Pharma, and related programs will be based on MHT CET, JEE Mains, GPAT, and NEET.  

• Admission to B.Sc./M.Sc. Courses will be based on different entrances like CUET, NEST, KVPY, TET, and ACET. 

• Admission to ME courses will be based on GATE. 

• Admission to MBA courses will be based on CAT, CMAT, GMAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, and NMAT. 

• Admission to B.A/M.A. courses will be based on a merit list and department-specific entrances. 

• Admission to PhD. Courses will be based on UGC NET, CSIR NET, SET, GATE and PET. 

The admission process begins with online registration and filling out the application form, followed by the entrance examination, counselling & document verification, and finally admission fee payment. Admission to some courses offered by Mumbai University also involves a personal interview and group discussion round.

*Note: Mumbai University releases two to three merit lists depending on the seat vacancy. So, the exact number of merit lists released in 2025 may vary.
