As the NEET exams for 2024 are done and dusted and results are already published, many aspirants, including you, must have been looking forward to applying for the same in 2025. But, when will the exams be conducted? What have been the cut-offs for 2024? How to register for the exam? What are the eligibility criteria? About NEET Exam

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level exam for admission at medical colleges and institutes in India in the pursuit of a medical degree, like MBBS, BDS, MS, and MD. This exam is categorised into two – NEET UG and NEET PG, where the former is for MBBS and BDS, and the latter is for MS, MD, or PG Diploma courses.

NEET exams are typically conducted once a year. While the NEET UG exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the NEET PG is conducted by the National Board of Examinations In Medical Sciences.  

For NEET UG, the mode of exam is offline, pen-and-paper, and for NEET PG, it’s computer-based. The exam duration is 3 hours 20 minutes for NEET UG and 3 hours 30 minutes for NEET PG. You can take this exam in either of the 13 languages – English, Bengali, Assamese, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Marathi, Odia, Telegu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

NEET Exam Registration Process

Here’s a step-by-step guide to the entire registration process for the NEET exam; both UG and PG levels! 

Step 1: 

For NEET UG, visit the official website of NTA at https://exams.nta.ac.in/, click on NEET UG, and henceforth, navigate to the registration form under the “Public Notices” section. 

For NEET PG, go to the official website of the National Board of Examinations In Medical Sciences, at https://nbe.edu.in/, select the exam you intend to appear for, i.e., “NEET PG”, and tap on “New Registration”.  

Step 2: 

Once you land on the application page, fill in the requisite personal details, such as – Candidate’s Name, Mothers’ Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category, Mobile Number, Email ID, etc.   

When done with the entire form fill-up, simply hit the “Submit” button. 

Step 3: 

Herein, for NEET UG exam registration, you have to create a unique password, retype the same, choose a security question, enter its answer, and further click on “Submit”

For NEET PG, a user ID and password gets automatically created and sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.  

Step 4: 

Next, you have to log in to your application through the user ID and password and complete the form by providing other required details like academic qualification, medium of question paper you want to appear in, city & centre preferences, etc. 

Step 5: 

Then, you must scan and upload the necessary documents following the specified size and format. Typically, you will be asked to upload your passport-size photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, identity proof, category certificate (if applicable), and academic documents. 

Once you upload them all, tap the “Submit” button again!   

Step 6: 

The final step is to pay the registration/application fee as specified for the NEET UG/NEET PG exam. Here, you will get the option to choose your mode of payment, whether Net Banking, UPI, Credit Card, or Debit Card. After choosing the payment method, make the payment and take proof of your payment details (like transaction ID). 

That’s all! You will soon receive a notification of your successful registration for the NEET exam. You can hereby print the application form and keep it ready for later use!  

NEET Applicant Criteria

Academic Qualification for NEET UG

10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English from a recognized board, having a minimum of 50% score in the respective subjects.  

Academic Qualification for NEET PG

MBBS degree/ provisional Pass Certificate and provisional Registration Certificate of MBBS  



Age Criteria for NEET UG

Must have completed 17 years by December 2025 

Age Criteria for NEET PG

No bars on maximum age. The minimum age criteria remain the same as NEET UG
