Throughout the period of the Internship, which is a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months, the “Interns” will be made familiar with their chosen field and the actual functioning of their departments. 

The workspace, Internet, and any other facilities as per requirement in the specific departments will be provided by the NITI Aayog, except for a working laptop, which the chosen candidate must bring of their own.

Public Finances/Budget; Public Private Partnership; Rural Development and SDGs; Science and Technology; Skill Development & Employment; Social justice and empowerment; Sports and Youth Development; Tourism and culture; Urbanization / smart city; Water Resources; Education/Human Resources Development; Energy Sector; Foreign Trade / Commerce; Governance, Health, Nutrition, Women & Child Development, Industry, Infrastructure connectivity; Mass Communications and Social Media; Mining Sector; Natural Resources; Environment & Forests; Programme Monitoring and Evaluation; Project appraisal and management; Agriculture; Data Management and Analysis; Economics.

Eligibility to apply for the Internship scheme:
  1. Undergraduate students (pursuing or in 4th sem. of their bachelor’s degree) with at least 85% marks in 12th exams.
  2. Graduates and in term end exams of 1st year of Post-graduate or pursuing PhD and with at least 70% marks in graduation.
  3. Students appearing in final exams or just completed their graduation/post-graduation with at least 70% cumulative marks in all subjects till the application date.
  4. The period between application for the Internship and declaration of final exam results should be at most 6 months. 
Procedure and documents list for applying to the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme:

First things first, the application for this student internship scheme by NITI Aayog is through ONLINE mode only. Below are the steps to follow.

  1. Visit at: https://workforindia.niti.gov.in/intern/InternshipEntry/PCInternshipEntry.aspx
  2. Read the instructions carefully, and fill in every detail as required on the form.
  3. Choose your “Area Of Interest” (Only One) in the specified field.
  4. Click on Preview and verify all the details.
  5. In case of any error in the details, click on the Edit button.
  6. If and when all fields are correctly filled, press the Submit button.
  7. Note the Registration Number for future reference.

#Note: NITI Aayog opens the application portal from the 1st to the 10th of every month.

List of necessary documents: 
  1. Marksheets of 10th, 12th, Graduation, and PG (All semesters, along with degree) As per applicability of your education level and eligibility criteria.
  2. NOC is required as per the official application guidelines.
