As the name suggests, this scheme intends to support young Indian students in building their careers abroad, through a seamless study-cum-work visa for a period of two years. The reason being its vibrant culture, and a number of world-class academic institutions/universities. 

The India Young Professionals Visa Scheme aims to offer a seamless study and work atmosphere for Indian students, so they can get a fair chance to explore and expand their career opportunities in the UK, thereby ensuring a more stable future. The candidates will be randomly selected through a ballot system, and the fee to apply for the ballot is zero. Key Highlights and Benefits: 

Under this scheme, the UK government has proposed to offer multiple direct and indirect benefits beyond an extended visa opportunity. Below are the reasons why students should apply for this scheme:

1. Seamless visa application for a longer period, i.e., 2 years

Unlike the traditional concept of separate work and study visas, the visas under the India Young Professionals Scheme will be for a longer period of time and right from the approval of the visa students will have an open option to extend their stay in the UK beyond studies for work opportunities during the visa tenure. 

2. Better work opportunities in the UK alongside and post-studies

Having a pre-approved work visa ensures better trust among employers in the UK to offer work opportunities to young students, thereby opening more work opportunities for Indian students abroad.

3. Lower immigration hurdles

A visa under the India Young Professionals Visa Scheme creates better trust for the student among UK authorities. This is generally in the case the student wishes to exit and enter the country during the visa period. The India Young Professionals Visa Scheme allows the holder to enter and exit the UK multiple times during the 2-year visa period.

Eligibility Requirements: 

As with all schemes and programmes, the India Young Professionals Visa Scheme also has some eligibility criteria to fulfill. The criteria requirements are as follows:

1. The applicant must be between the age group of 18 to 30 years old.

2. Must hold at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (as per UK regulation Framework Levels). 

3. The applicant upon selection must have a minimum of 2,530 pounds in a savings account to manage their basic living expenses in the UK.

4. They must not have any children below the age of 18 years dependent on them. 

Certain Limitations Under The Scheme:

However, while the scheme offers several benefits to the students, it is not free of restrictions. For example, students cannot extend their stay in the UK beyond 24 months. Also, they cannot access any public funds or apply for government programmes. Students are not allowed to include family member(s) in their visa application or work as professionals in the field of sports such as coaches etc.
