Here’s the story of Khushi, a 14-year-old girl from a village in the city of Vihar, Maharashtra, one may not have often heard of - Narangi; firm on her dreams to become an engineer! Here’s how Kushi vehemently derived the essential literacy skills of the 21st century by using her Primebook laptop. 

A Brief About Khushi 

Khushi Nilesh Mhatre is her full name! She is a student of Class 9 at Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya School Hashiware, in the Alibag District, Maharastra! 

Khushi is bound by the social constraints of the underprivileged area she lives in, quite conscious of her socio-economic background, but ready to fight the battle of survival and progress with Primebook by her side. Her determination to reach her desired career is a meaningful lesson for us all - A lesson to take hardships as the most crucial path to growth.  

She loves going to school, as she says – School is where she gets knowledge; and Marathi being her favourite among all she learns there, – “It’s my mother tongue” (translated to English) - she says! 

Singing and Kabaddi be her hobbies, and she aims to ace them, too! A skill she recognizes as practice-worthy! She takes private tuitions for Hindi, Maths, and Science but never misses out on play, demonstrating her mastery of time management skills at a young age!          

Khushi’s Life Before Primebook Came to Her Assitance – 

Before her acquaintance with Primebook, Khushi had to study using a tab and her online learning experience with a tab was not really satisfactory to her, as she asserts. 

She struggled to research and read for longer hours. This is certainly because the screen was smaller in size. In fact, while she wanted to explore more of science and technology, the tab didn’t serve her right! 

Neither did she have the budget to buy a high-end laptop that boons with learning productivity because of its form factor, nor was she able to effectively acquire relevant and essential digital literacy skills of the 21st century with the tab she had, although she was aware of the importance of digital literacy in education, especially in post-pandemic time.
